On May 7, 2010, in recognition of World AIDS Orphans Day, the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard University is hosting a screening of “Home is Where You Find It.” The film will run from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Room FXB-G12. A panel discussion of FXB Center Programs Related to HIV/AIDS Affected Children will be held following the screening.
Light refreshments will be served. The panelists are Theresa Betancourt, ScD, Assistant Professor of Child Health and Human Rights, Department of Global Health and Population and Director, Research Program on Children and Global Adversity, FXB Center, and Chris Desmond, PhD, Research Associate, Cost of Inaction, FXB Center.
"Home Is Where You Find It" tells the story of being orphaned by AIDS and how filmmaker Alcides Soares, and his friends sought to create new family bonds. The film won “Best of the Fest” in the My Hero Film Festival screening Nov 21, 2009 in Los Angeles. The film also won Best Documentary, Manhattan Shorts; Best Documentary Short, DocuWest; and First Prize, Directorial Discovery Award, Rhode Island International Film Festival.
