NextAid (nextaid.org) is an L.A based nonprofit harnessing the power of music to affect change in the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children in Africa. On World AIDS Orphans Day (05/07), a grassroots campaign advocating for the 15 million children orphaned by AIDS around the world, NextAid will launch its annual online auction on biddingforgood.com – Bids Build Hope. The auction will raise awareness and funds for NextAid’s projects promoting and implementing sustainable solutions to the challenges facing African children: the Kawangware Vision Center in Kenya and the goGogetters program in South Africa.

The auction will launch on May 7th at 8:00AM EST and end on May 31st at 11:00PM EST. Auction items will be in the general spirit of NextAid’s commitment to green and eco-friendly initiatives and belief in the hope that music inspires, as well as, allow our supporters to treat themselves. NextAid is currently seeking items for the auction valued at, or in excess of $100 and asks for your generous participation.

Categories include:
- Wannabe a DJ (gear, software, classes)
- Richie Hawtin Gear
- Power of Music (CDs, records, downloads, instruments, festival, events)
- Good Goods (green retail, fair trade items, organic goods, beauty products)
- Treat Yourself LA, SF, and NY (restaurants, activities, fitness, spa)
- Call in Sick (hotels, flights, cruises, travel, activities)

The auction will be extensively promoted on top industry print and online media outlets, online catalogues and at NextAid’s superstar-studded event at this year’s Winter Music Conference. With the help from generous donations by Glacéau, Rane, Cakewalk, Cielo, Dubspot, M-Audio, Om Records, Traxsource, Miguel Migs, Supperclub, DJ Dan, Native Instruments, Afro Funke and many more, past online auctions have raised more than $30,000. Help us reach this year’s goal of $20,000!

The Kawangware Vision Center - NextAid has partnered with the inspiring community-based organization to build a “green” workshop and multipurpose facility for their youth programs and micro-business that strive to get youth off the streets by offering economic and performance activities, such as constructing gift bags to sell to the safari tourism industry. The profits enable the youth to support themselves, as well as, the vulnerable and orphaned children in the community. Learn more here.

goGogetters program – A loveLife program empowering South African grandmothers (gogos), who have dedicated their senior years to the wellbeing of orphaned and vulnerable children, as they fight to protect a social fabric left vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. NextAid is raising funds for the schooling needs of the 10,000 youth who participate in the program. Learn more here.
